Kamenz (dpa/sn) – Tourism in Saxony is slowly recovering, but remains below the level of the pre-Corona period. The accommodation facilities in the Free State recorded around 2.8 million visitors and around 7.5 million overnight stays in the first half of 2022, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Kamenz on Friday. This means that the industry is on the right track, but the results from 2019 have not yet been achieved.
In the first half of 2022, the number of visitors was more than a quarter lower than in 2019, and the number of overnight stays was almost a fifth. According to the information, the district-free city of Chemnitz is the only travel area that was able to increase compared to 2019.
