The brother of Sheikh Zayid Al Nahyan died last week. To express the condolences of the British royal family, Prince William spontaneously travels to the United Arab Emirates. It is the first trip of this kind for the 39-year-old.

In the name and on behalf of the Queen, Prince William left for the United Arab Emirates at short notice. On Monday, the Royal met the new President Muhammad bin Zayid Al Nahyan there to express his condolences. His half-brother and previous president, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, died on May 13 after years of serious illness.

According to a report by the British “Mirror”, William left for the United Arab Emirates overnight. Accordingly, it was the first time that the 39-year-old was sent to another country to offer condolences on behalf of the British crown. This is another indication that Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson is increasingly being entrusted with important tasks. He was also present at the opening of the British Parliament by his father, Prince Charles.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also flew to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday to express his condolences. Just like Israel’s President Yitzchak Herzog, who arrived in Abu Dhabi at the weekend.

It was Prince William’s second visit this year. It was only on February 9, 2022 that he set foot in the United Arab Emirates for the first time in his life. At the time, he attended Expo 2020, among other things. He wrote about an Instagram picture at the time: “I look forward to arriving in Dubai to celebrate the United Kingdom at Expo 2020 and the important topic of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and international partners to discuss.”
