The American series maker Eric Weinberg is in the dock. He is accused of sexual abuse in at least five counts. He is said to have lured dozens of young women to his Los Angeles home for more than two decades and then sexually assaulted them.

American screenwriter and producer Eric Weinberg, who worked on hit series such as ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Californication’, has been charged with rape and other sexual assault. The 62-year-old has been accused by five women who Weinberg allegedly abused between 2014 and 2019, the Los Angeles prosecutor said.

The accused used his Hollywood status to lure young women into his home under the pretense of photo shoots, where he allegedly abused them, prosecutor George Gascón said. The allegations include rape, forced oral sex and assault. Weinberg is scheduled to appear before the magistrate at the end of October. He was initially released on bail of five million dollars (around five million euros).

More than two dozen women described alleged attacks by Weinberg in conversations with the “Hollywood Reporter”, the journal reported. The first cases would date back to 2000. The producer had already been arrested in 2014, but due to a lack of evidence there were no charges at the time.

Weinberg has written and produced on numerous productions, including 100 episodes of the hit comedy Scrubs, starring Zach Braff as a young doctor through 2006. He also worked on series such as “Graves”, “Californication” and “Anger Management”. He was nominated five times for the Emmy television award.
