This group is dedicated to elevating an African American women to the highest court. It launched a petition as well as a website to track judicial nominees.
“We are aware that the demographics in this country are constantly changing. We believe representation is important,” stated April Reign, member of “She Will Rise”.
Brandi Colander, a member of this group, stated that “The truth is, we actually think the absence of Black women on this court est an abject failure.
In the Supreme Court’s history of 233 years, only seven justices were not White men.
“We are all different shapes and sizes, and come in many colors, genders, and sexual orientations. … Reign stated that the judiciary should represent the community from the Supreme Court up to the local judge.
