He celebrated successes alongside Tom Hanks in the classic film “Saving Private Ryan”: But now actor Tom Sizemore has suffered a stroke of fate. After a brain aneurysm, the 61-year-old is hospitalized. A spokesman said his condition is critical.
The US actor Tom Sizemore, known from the film classic “Saving Private Ryan”, is in intensive care after a brain aneurysm, reports the US broadcaster CNN. Sizemore is in critical condition, spokesman Charles Lago said. You have to wait now. The actor’s family has been informed. “There is no further information at this time.”
The 61-year-old starred in a number of hit films in the 1990s and 2000s, including ‘Heat’, ‘Natural Born Killers’, ‘Pearl Harbor’ and ‘Black Hawk Down’. However, he became world famous for his role as Sergeant Mike Horvath in Saving Private Ryan.
Opposite Tom Hanks, Sizemore utters the eponymous line towards the end of the film: “Maybe one day we’ll look back and realize that rescuing Private Ryan was the only decent thing we could do about this hideous mess.”
However, his early 2000s success was followed by flops and Sizemore struggled with drug problems. He also repeatedly got into conflict with the judiciary: in 2003 he was found guilty of hitting his ex-girlfriend. He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended on probation. In 2007, however, he had to go to prison for violating the terms of his probation.
