Dirk Steffens is one of the best-known science journalists in Germany. It has recently become known that he is moving from ZDF to RTL. Now one of his first new tasks is also official: He leads through the quiz “Around the World in 55 Questions – The Great GEO Show”.
In the new RTL quiz show “In 55 questions around the world – The big GEO show”, science journalist Dirk Steffens wants to send five celebrities “on a mission”. The celebrities should devote themselves to a specific project in different countries on different continents “to learn more about our world,” RTL said. “They have spectacular experiences and collect remarkable information about nature, humans and animals.”
As experts for a continent, the prominent participants return to the studio and compete against each other in quiz rounds. In the final, Dirk Steffens will play for victory and prize money for one of the special projects.
The new show wants to combine “an exciting quiz with powerful visual missions from the celebrities,” it says. In addition, awareness of climate and species protection is to be created. As moderator, Sonja Zietlow leads through the quiz evenings.
Dirk Steffens is one of the best-known science journalists in Germany. The viewers know the 55-year-old from TV shows like “Terra X” or “Fascination Earth”. He has been honored with numerous prizes for his work, including the Golden Camera and the German Television Prize. In the spring it became known that he was moving from ZDF, where he had been in front of the camera since 2007, to RTL.
Zietlow, on the other hand, certainly doesn’t need to be introduced to the RTL audience. Of course, she is best known as a jungle camp blasphemer from the very beginning – since 2004 she has been leading “I’m a star – get me out of here!”. But she also has quiz experience. For example, shortly after the turn of the millennium, she moderated the show “The weakest flies” on RTL.
