The president of the General Council of the Judiciary, the member Rafael Mozo, has convened an extraordinary plenary session for next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. after the members Enrique Lucas, José María Macías, Carmen Llombart, José Antonio Ballestero had requested it. and Gerardo Martínez Tristán.

These five members registered a letter last Friday requesting an extraordinary plenary session to be held this Monday to assess the proposal to increase the salaries of judges and magistrates negotiated by the Ministry of Justice and the associations of judges and prosecutors.

At first, the Government was expected to convene the remuneration table -with the associations of judges and prosecutors, the CGPJ and the State Attorney General’s Office- for this Tuesday although sources from the governing body of the judges explain to EL MUNDO that , “for now”, the Council has not received any summons from the Ministry of Justice; Hence, Mozo has decided to set the extraordinary plenary session for Wednesday.

The members requested that the Plenary be held on Monday with the objective that the CGPJ assess the agreement before it was signed between the different actors that make up the remuneration table. At first, President Mozo did not respond to the request of the councilors under the umbrella that the regulation gives the president a period of three days to convene the plenary session. This attitude generated deep discomfort among the applicant members.

Finally, Mozo has convened today the extraordinary plenary session for next Wednesday.

As of the convening of this extraordinary meeting, the ordinary plenary session scheduled for this Thursday is without effect and canceled and its agenda is incorporated into the extraordinary one that will take place the day before, “with the consequent reduction of the expense that derives from it “.
