The Segovia Food Bank has been robbed by a group of unknown assailants who have seized products worth around 15,000 euros, as well as a computer that the Bank used for its logistics organization and a van distribution.
“When I went there, I verified that they had entered the warehouse, stirring up and leaving many packages lying around. We saw, then, that a lot of food was missing from the shelves and our delivery van was not there either,” said Rufo Sanz, president of the Food Bank. from Segovia.
As soon as the theft was discovered, Rufo Sanz called the Police, who began the investigations. “At the moment, they cannot confirm anything for sure,” Sanz explained, “but it seems that there may be some kind of group that is hanging around these facilities, trying to verify our activity.”
In fact, the president of the institution has commented how, in the morning of any day, several vans can be seen wandering through the streets of the industrial estate, in search of scrap metal or belongings that they can collect and resell. “Perhaps at some point they see us enter or leave with cargo and they learn our schedules, although we do not have signs or identify the ship,” he added.
From the moment the report of the theft was made public, there has been a reaction from numerous entities throughout the province, contacting the Food Bank to express their support and help.
“They have already sent us food from the warehouses of several nearby town halls which, although they are not exactly what we had planned to distribute this week, are always a help to families who will not be left with nothing to take home,” Sanz thanked .
The president of the Food Bank has commented how they have even been called by the organizations in Segovia that they constantly help, “so that this time they are the ones who can contribute with food that they have in reserve.”
“The important thing is that none of the almost 2,000 families we serve is left without help,” commented Sanz. “What less than a family has food for their children”, he concluded, hoping to pass “this bad drink” as soon as possible.
