The coordinator of Teruel Existe, Tomás Guitarte, has stressed that he maintains his position of a possible abstention to invest the ‘popular’ Jorge Azcón as president of the Government of Aragon without Vox to “flee from the politics of blocks”.

Aragón is one of the communities in which the Popular Party could achieve alternative sums without the need for pacts to its right. The candidacy headed by Jorge Azcón won 28 deputies on March 28, the same number as the entire left together.

With a hypothetical agreement with the PAR deputy, and the abstention of the three parliamentarians from Aragón Existe, the investiture of Jorge Azcón would only be frustrated if Vox voted against it together with the PSOE, the Chunta Aragonesista, Podemos and Izquierda Unida.

A situation similar to that which could occur in Cantabria, where Miguel Ángel Revilla’s PRC has also offered its abstention to facilitate the investiture of María José Sáenz de Buruaga.

Guitarte has specified in statements to Europa Press that this decision aims to move the autonomous community away from a policy –of blocks– “that we do not want nor do we believe is good for Aragonese society.” He added: “We will make an effort for transversality”.

The ‘popular’ Jorge Azcón, who heads the most voted list of the regional elections, with 28 deputies, has asked this Monday, in a press conference, that the groups abstain in his investiture to head a government “of moderation”.

In this sense, Tomás Guitarte has indicated that Teruel Existe had opened itself to abstention, in case it was requested, but no other option has been considered, such as being part of a ‘popular’ government, something that he has considered “improbable “. “Our effort is to abstain,” he remarked, to later point out: “It seems that they have already asked us for it.”

Regarding the meeting that he will have with Jorge Azcón, within the framework of the round of contacts prior to the investiture session, Tomás Guitarte has not confirmed the day on which it will take place. This Tuesday, June 6, it will be VOX’s turn.
