The heat wave continues, and until it begins to subside on Friday, the entire country is on alert after propping up another day of widespread records above 40 degrees.
Despite the extent of the heat throughout the Peninsula, the Basque Country is the most accused territory, with highs that touch 45 degrees in areas of Vizcaya or reach 41.4 degrees in Bilbao.
Even in towns on the Gipuzkoan coast such as Hondarribia, up to 40 degrees could be registered today, according to the National Meteorological Agency.
Aemet anticipates that tomorrow the red alert will extend to the northeast, since 42 degrees may be registered in the Ribera del Ebro of La Rioja, Navarra and Zaragoza, and even exceeded in some points of the Rioja Alavesa.
The minimums will also be very high, with values ??of 22-23 degrees in some of these areas.
Beyond the Basque Country, this Wednesday the suffocating heat maintains the orange alert (important risk) in 13 autonomous communities, and the yellow level (slightly lower) in another three; one of them is the region of Murcia, which was the only one that was not on alert in the early hours.
The most suffocating temperatures yesterday were registered again in Andalusia and Extremadura; In Almonte and El Granado (Huelva) maximum temperatures of 43.8 degrees were reached, respectively, and in Mérida (Badajoz) 43.5 degrees and 43 degrees in the city of Badajoz.
The Fabra Observatory in Barcelona also recorded last morning the highest minimum temperature in history (29.4 degrees).
