The first heat wave of summer ends after four days in which maximum temperatures of up to 44 degrees have been reached in certain parts of the Peninsula.
“We can end the heat wave episode this Wednesday,” said the spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), Rubén del Campo.
These days, during the heat wave, some points in Andalusia have been around 42 degrees. The atmosphere has also been very warm in the Canary Islands, where on Tuesday temperatures exceeded 39 degrees in the south of Gran Canaria.
Despite the end of the heat wave episode, it will continue in much of the center and south of the Peninsula, where thermometers will reach high values ??for the time of year, specifically between 3 and 5 degrees higher than usual.
Values ??that will be exactly the opposite in the north where the environment will be cool for the season, thus producing a fairly marked temperature contrast on the Peninsula.
As for the rains, in general they will be scarce, and there may be some precipitation in the far north and several storms may form locally strong in the mountain areas.
These will occur because, on Thursday, the position of the Azores anticyclone in the Atlantic will favor the arrival of northerly winds, which will drive a front towards that area of ??the Peninsula. For this reason, instability will increase and there will be rains in the north of Galicia, in the Cantabrian communities and the Pyrenees.
That same day, temperatures will drop in the northwest, where there will be about 6 degrees less than Wednesday and in the rest they will not vary much. One more day 36 degrees will be exceeded in a good part of the center and south of the Peninsula and it will be around 38 or 40 degrees in the early hours of the afternoon in the Guadalquivir Valley, Córdoba and Seville, while in the northern third the environment it will be cooler.
On Friday, in general, slightly cloudy skies will predominate, although in the far north it will still dawn with the rainfall that continues from the previous day and that will cease throughout the day.
As the hours pass, clouds of evolution will grow and storms may also form in parts of the Balearic Islands and in the interior of the eastern half of the peninsula. As for temperatures, both the maximum and minimum will drop in a general way, about 3 to 5 degrees compared to Thursday in a good part of the Peninsula and up to more than 6 degrees in northeastern points, especially Aragon. Thus, 36 degrees will continue to be exceeded in the southern half of the peninsula, reaching 38 degrees will be reached in Andalusian points.
Temperatures are going to rise again over the weekend, both on Saturday and Sunday. The AEMET warns that it will be a hot weekend, with high temperatures in the center and in the southern half of the Peninsula where temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in large areas-
In the Canary Islands the heat will be the protagonist both this Wednesday and Thursday, since it could exceed 36 degrees in points of Fuerteventura and the south of Gran Canaria. In any case, in the archipelago from Thursday the temperatures will drop until the weekend is already at normal values.
