Carlos Alcaraz is already in the third round of the US Open after a simple victory against South African Lloyd Harris by 6-3, 6-1 and 7-6(4).

“I played a very good second set, without many mistakes, playing my game,” summed up Alcaraz who insisted that he always tries to “enjoy” on the court and “entertain” the New York spectators

The Spanish tennis player, who defends the New York title won last year, will face the British Daniel Evans in the next match. The world number 26 reaches this round after beating the Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (65).

The duel against Evans will require that Alcaraz have to put his tennis one more gear, especially against the ‘ogres’ that could appear later on his way to the final: the British Cameron Norrie (16) in the round of 16, the Italian Jannik Sinner (6 ) in the quarterfinals and the Russian Daniil Medvedev (3) in the semifinals.

To date Alcaraz has won the two games he has played against Evans: in the round of 32 in Vienna in 2021 and in the semifinals of the Conde de Godó this year.

On the other hand, Alcaraz will lose the number 1 of the ATP no matter what happens in this tournament in favor of the Serbian Novak Djokovic, although they can only meet in the final of the tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz and Daniel Evans will play this Saturday, September 2, the official match of the third round of the US Open tournament. The match will be held from 6:00 p.m.

The match between Alcaraz and Evans in Spain can be followed through Movistar de Movistar Deportes (59) and on the ATP Tennis TV application.
