US star Angelina Jolie couldn’t be prouder. Because her eldest daughter Zahara is now going to a very special college. A video is circulating on Instagram in which the actress lets her feelings run free. “Hopefully I can pull myself together,” says Jolie, touched.
Angelina Jolie almost cried: A few days ago, the actress and mother of six gave her daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt to the renowned Spelman College in Atlanta. Darryl Holloman, the vice president for student affairs, shared pictures and a video on his Instagram account showing him with Jolie, Zahara and Helene Gayle, the university president.
When asked about her state of mind, the “Eternals” actress emotionally replied in the video: “I start crying when I start talking about today. I haven’t started crying yet so hopefully I can pull myself together.” Nevertheless, she is “so pleased” to now be a “Spelman mother”.
The last photo shows Jolie with her daughter and Holloman. “Welcome to campus. Zahara, graduating class of 2026,” he captioned the post. The actress and human rights activist described the college as a “very special place”. It is an “honor to have a family member” there.
The private university was opened in 1881 and is therefore a so-called historically Afro-American college. This refers to the universities that were founded before 1964 for African American students. So before the time when blacks and whites were allowed to sit at school together in the USA. One famous graduate is Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple.
Zahara is the second of six children Jolie has with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. In 2005, the actress adopted Zahara as a baby from an orphanage in Ethiopia. In the same year she started dating Brad Pitt. In 2005 he applied to adopt Zahara. The 17-year-old has two older brothers named Maddox and Pax and younger siblings Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.
