The minister for the ecological transition and third Vice President of the Government, Teresa Ribera, and the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Look, have been willing to leave behind his divergences and to work together, as he has revealed the maximum authority of
The Autonomous Community after the meeting maintained about the environmental crisis in which the Mar Menor is located since a week and a half ago.
At the meeting, which has been developed at the San Steban Palace in a “cordial” climate, according to López Executive Sources, has been agreed on the creation of a bilateral commission to periodically evaluate the information collected by both administrations and avoid future
Crisis in the area.
Ribera is also committed to studying the local proposal to recover part of the Marchamalo Gola’s draft – the channel unites the lower sea with the Mediterranean – to oxygenate the southern bucket of the lagoon, the most affected area this summer.
“We have explained that it would be a punctual, reversible and monitored performance,” they point out from the regional government.
The Minister will support the scientific reports of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography before giving green light to any performance.
President López Miradas has asked why the water supply is not immediately cut when the Hydrographic Confederation of the Safe (CHS) detects an illegal irrigation.
Ribera has argued that the process is complex, it requires informing the communities of irrigation and preserving public law.
She does she have been in favor of prioritizing a series of measures (specifically, 5, 6 and 9) of the ‘poured 0’ plan.
Basically, these measures consist of the extraction of water from the aquifer over which the Murcian Albufera, responsible for a good part of the environmental problem being contaminated with nitrates and filter through the subsoil or by discharges from the Alpujón Rambla.
In turn, the Minister has authorized the Autonomous Executive to drain the assessment of environmental impact and the execution of the North Collector’s works and the nitrifying plant.
That would allow to extract all the water from the aforementioned Rambla, eliminate nitrates and treat it in the optimal conditions to be able to pour it.
The Executive of Lopez Mirazas has also stood out that all the records referred by the CHS to restore the land affected by illegal irrigations are being processed by the Ministry of Agriculture, rejecting the recent accusations of Minister Spokesman, Isabel Rodríguez, which part of them
They were paralyzed.
“There has been a dance of figures that will be specified at a technical level,” the same sources point.
With regard to the possibility of applying sanctions, the regional government alleges that it is a confederation-dependent issue, but it is committed to acting “at origin”.
In fact, he has announced the processing of a decree to prohibit nitrogen fertilizers in the area closest to the lagoon, decree that is intended to approve this Thursday or the following in the Governing Council.
The minister has valued this measure “positively”.
“We hope that the good tone and willingness to analyze the proposals will be translated into commitments. Here we have an environmental emergency and the Government of Spain is no hurry to solve it,” they point out from the San Esteban Palace.
