Considering that the improvement of batteries and their autonomy advances, but not as fast as it would be desirable;
and that, in the intimate relationship with it, the recharge network for electric cars is clearly insufficient, the manufacturers insist that the client becomes accounts because the operation, although a priori can be more onerous, in the long run it will be more profitable than
Opt for a combustion model.

Now, one of the great world leaders’ leaders, Lease Plan, come to give the reason in its report CAR COST INDEX 2021. It is the sixth installment of a report in which the so-called TCO is analyzed for its acronym in English
.
O Total cost of ownership and use of a car in Spanish.
That is, the disbursement month by month considering what you pay for the vehicle;
his depreciation;
spending on energy or fuel;
taxation;
The insurance and maintenance operations.

In fact, the study notes that “electric vehicles (see) had never been as affordable in Europe” and that “are competitive costs” with respect to thermal cars in most countries, including Spain.

The work offers data from 22 markets, considers from utilitaries to stockings and provides expenses for a period of four years, assuming an annual mileage of 30,000 kilometers.
A figure that conditions the result since the average that a European driver runs is about 14,000 kilometers.
Although it is also not considered the aid to the purchase of VE, which in our country reach 7,000 euros and can almost match the actual price paid.

Giving by good premises, Lease Plan concludes a predictable data: the largest and the caro the car is, the more the gap between one thermal and an electrified one is reduced.
For example, a model for medium-sized batteries, whether it is a generalist or premium brand, it is competitive in up to 17 out of the 22 countries against one of gasoline or diesel.
While, in a compact, it is in 14. And if we get out of size to talk about the utilitaries, they are only placed ahead in eight markets.

In this sense, it is considered that one VE is competitive if its TCO does not exceed by more than 5% of its classical alternatives.
Attending that, in Spain, the first case is given, but not the second.
Thus, the TCO of a premium media berlin in our country is 936 euros / month if it is electric, by 1,063, 1,092 and 1,047 euros / month of one of diesel, gasoline and plug-in hybrid, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the case of a compact costs are 798, 697, 701 and 903 euros / month for each of the four technologies.

In addition, the report is illustrated with a comparison between the Volkswagen Golf, the best-selling tourism in Europe and also very popular in the fleets, with its counterpart on batteries: the id.3.
The latter is victorous in 12 of the 22 markets.
Not in Spain, where the monthly fee is about 100 euros, more expensive.

And where are these advantages from?
Above all, of the cost of energy (representing only 10% of the monthly invoice against 23% in a gasoline);
And that they pay less for the circulation tax.
In maintenance or insurance they are on par, while the VE suffers a greater depreciation.
Logical, given that it is a technology for which an important evolution is foreseen in a few years.

Research brings other interesting data.
Like the country where it is cheaper to use a car (regardless of its propulsion) varies enormously in the old continent.
The fork goes from the 743 euros monthly from Greece to the 1,138 of Switzerland, which in Spain amounts to 944 euros.
However, if those amounts are placed in relation to GDP, the highest total cost of ownership corresponds to Switzerland and Portugal;
and the child, to Denmark and Germany.

In general, it is the countries of Eastern Europe the cheapest in this regard.
Also in which the electrification has fewer market share, although it is expected to see them are also competitive there in the middle of the decade, as well.

The Lease Plan analysis does not specify, for example, energy or fuel prices.
In this sense, the spectacular rise in light of recent months has remained attractive to electric, but they continue to win the game.
This is indicated by the OCU, which estimates that the average annual cost of recharges has gone from 190 to 447 euros in just one year.
However, also fuels have been placed on maximum, so the expenditure of a gasoline car amounts to 1,006 euros and 775 euros in a diesel.

The OCU considered a consumption of some 2,000 kWh of electricity for, with recharges at home, at night, at the valley time and with the regulated rate PVPC.
For the gasoline vehicle, an average consumption of seven liters was estimated and one less for the diesel.
In all three cases, for an annual tour of 10,000 km.
What has done the rise of light is to lengthen in a year and a half the deadline to amortize the price difference in the purchase.
