The Germany police have killed an asylum applicant from Sudan who attacked members of the emergency service with a knife, as reported on Monday in a statement.
Police has detailed that the operation began around 23.30 on Sunday at a center for asylum seekers located in Harsefeld.
They came because emergency services were already in the place and man, 40, was armed with a knife.
A spokesman for the Prosecutor’s Office, cited by the DPA news agency, the center had doubled the police twice on Sunday because the man was allegedly threatening other people.
In the course of the operation, according to the police, the man attacked the members of the emergency services, so the agents performed several shots against him.
The man died in a hospital in the town of Stade shortly after.
According to the Mayor of Harsefeld, Ute Kueck, it was public that man suffered psychological problems and was under psychiatric treatment.
The STADE Office has already opened an investigation by homicide against the agents involved in the operation and has commissioned the investigation, in which the authorities will have to elucidate whether the police officers acted in legitimate defense, the Oldenburg-Cuxhaven Police Department.
