The Ministry of Science and Innovation has granted the National Research Awards for 2021. The awards, created in 1982, are divided into 10 modalities, all of which have been announced today.
The awarded of this last edition have been: Francisco José García Vidal (National Award Blas Cabrera in the area of Physical Sciences, Materials and Earth), Hermenegildo García Gómez (National Award Enrique Moles in the area of Science and Chemical Technology ), Montserrat Vilà Planellas (National Award Alejandro Malaspina in the area of Natural Resources Science and Technologies), Luis Vega González (National Award Julio Rey Shepherd in the area of Mathematics and Information and Communications Technologies), María José Alonso Fernández (National Award Juan de la Cierva in the area of technology transfer), Jesús Fernando San Miguel Izquierdo (Gregorio Marañón National Award in the area of Medicine), purification Muñoz Cajal (National Award Santiago Ramón and Cajal in the area of Biology) , Aníbal Ollero Baturone (National Award Leonardo Torres Quevedo in the area of Engineering), Jordi Galí Garreta (Pascual Madoz National Award in Law Areas and Economic and Social Sciences and Margarita Díaz-Andreu (Ramón Menéndez Pidal National Award in the Humanities area).
The Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, has communicated to the award-winning juries’ failure and congratulated them on behalf of the Government.
In addition, the Minister has announced that at 2022 the national research prizes aimed exclusively for young people will be created.
The prizes that have been granted today are, as highlighted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in press release, the most important recognition of Spain in the field of scientific research.
The total amount of prizes amounts to 300,000 euros, with an economic envelope of 30,000 euros for each of the categories.
This is the second time that the ten modalities of these prizes are convened in the same year.
In this edition, a total of 119 candidacies have been received.
Of the 115 that were admitted, 27 were women and 88 of men.
The Call for Prizes, under competitive concurrence, has discussed under the principles of advertising, transparency, equality and non-discrimination.
The ruling of the ten juries has been unanimously and in all of them the extraordinary quality of the candidatures that have been presented, indicate from the ministry.
