Mobile phones are already the main entry path of corporate cyber attacks in Spain, since 41 percent of the total of those produced in 2021 took place through these devices, something below the European average.
The ‘smartphones’ have become a priority objective for cybercriminals when they put companies at the point of view, as follows from the Ciberreparation Report of Hiscox 2021.
Specifically, 41 percent of cyber attacks to Spanish companies are already produced through the mobile phone, whether corporate phones (22%) or personal mobile phones used to work (19%).
However, despite these figures, Spain is better positioned in security of mobile devices than the rest of Europe, where 26 percent of corporate attacks occurs through company mobiles and 22 percent through the
Personal, for 48 percent in total.
Due to the COVID-19, the number of remote workers has increased 46 percent of average and this has been accompanied by greater use of mobile phones for labor matters and greater concern on the part of companies.
58 percent of them feel more vulnerable to the cyber tradesal to have their employees at a distance and are already taking measures, allocating 56 percent of their IT budget to implement systems to detect unauthorized connections and devices.
In order to raise awareness about the risks of using mobile devices to work and help companies minimize risks, HISCOX has compiled some tips to make their use safer.
The company recommends using always updated devices and without ‘rooting’, that is, without eliminating the limitations of the operating system.
57 percent of Android devices and 20 percent of Apple’s phones have not installed the last update of their operating system, which seriously compromises their safety.
Other recommendations go by managing applications, which may have security gaps and should only be downloaded from official stores, as well as controlling their permissions and always having a backup than recovering in case of attack.
Spanish companies are aware of the importance of this and 74 percent makes frequent backups of their systems.
Likewise, HISCOX advises separating the professional professional, since 28 percent of cyber attacks are produced through employees ‘phishing’ or ‘spoofing’, as well as respecting corporate channels and monitoring video calls and sensitive information that
It can be exposed.
Security measures for companies are completed with the use of secure passwords (also in work profiles), avoid connection to public networks such as WiFi due to their risks, and make use of a trusted and updated antivirus.
