Martin Ansel has been playing guitar with Pur for 30 years. Now that’s over, as he announces on the band’s official Instagram account. He doesn’t give any specific reasons for his departure, but neither is it something private or something health-related.
After almost 30 years, Martin Ansel will leave the band Pur. The guitarist, who has been there since 1993, confirms his departure in a statement. “Dear Pur fans, I’m announcing my departure from the band today,” he opened a post on the band’s official Instagram account.
Fans don’t have to worry about Ansel, though. The reasons for his exit are “multi-layered”, but “private or even health aspects play no role,” he explains. The musician therefore thinks that it is “the very best decision for him, but also for the band” – a “win-win situation”.
Ansel does not give the exact reasons for the exit. But in the post he thanks the band “a thousand times (…) for many successful years”. He also addresses words to the individual members and to the audience: “Without you none of this would be possible.”
