The original iPod prototype, musical apparatus created by Apple and two decades ago, had the same size as a current MacBook computer, was yellow and had a tiny screen.
This is what Panic is detailed, which has celebrated the twentieth anniversary of this product of the technology company, which presented Steve Jobs in October 2001, with unpublished images of this device, a prototype that never came to be commercialized.
In them, a large unrecognizable device appears and rectangular shape with a small screen at the top right.
In addition, it has four buttons in vertical to the right intended for the control of the prototype.
In the upper left it has a wheel to control the player, which shows a very rudimentary aspect with respect to the mechanical ‘click wheel’ of the posterior models (Classic, Mini, Nano or Shuffle).
Judging by the samples, the prototype of the first iPod is located at least four times higher than the model that the company officially launched at the end of October 2001, the iPod Classic 1st generation.
This format was removed from the market in 2014.
As Panic has published, this design includes the engraving of the manufacturing date, which dates from September 2001, that is, almost two months before the sale of the first Apple portable music player.
The large size of this prototype comparable with a 13-inch MacBook does not correspond now with the internal circuit system, since there is a lot of free space and the wiring is concentrated at the top, where the screen is.
