Go camping in Ukraine this summer, really? While the country is in full counter-offensive against the Russian army, tourists are very rare. Many states, like France, strongly advise their nationals against traveling there. But not enough to discourage the Visit Ukraine site, whose objective is to promote tourism in the country, even in the midst of war. This is how the site published a video on Wednesday, July 26, supposed to identify the spots where camping is safe.
“We have analyzed the current situation in different regions and collected opinions on campsites in the west of the country,” says the commentary of the video, spotted by 20 Minutes. This lists, as safe places, the Lviv region, that of Ivano-Frankivsk, or even Transcarpathia. However, if the front is well located in the east of the country, Russian strikes have already reached cities further west, including Lviv.
Safe camping in Ukraine. Safe Ukraine!
The site, which boasts the support of several Ukrainian state agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, intends to regularly update the list of safe places to camp. As a bonus, it lists stays at unbeatable prices, such as this one-week package including rafting, climbing, sauna and horseback riding for a total of 300 euros (excluding plane tickets).
It is this same site that has been offering guided tours for the past few months in Ukrainian cities liberated from Russian occupation.
