Weimar (dpa/th) – The Achava Festival in Thuringia was visited by around 17,000 people this year. In the past two weeks, a total of 60 events were offered, as the organizers announced on Sunday. They were mostly well attended. The program ranged from concerts to eyewitness talks, political education and cooking classes. The Jewish-influenced festival, which ended on Sunday, is all about the coexistence of cultures and religions.
The city of Gotha presented itself as a new partner of the festival this year with several events that presented a cross-section of Jewish life in Gotha. Among other things, a Jewish service was celebrated in the city for the first time in about 80 years. In the Thuringian state parliament, a student forum is now an integral part of the festival programme. The Achava Festival in Thuringia has existed since 2015.
