Erfurt (dpa/th) – The supposedly good news is bad: scammers are currently sending text messages in Thuringia about an alleged tax credit. The Ministry of Finance in Thuringia announced on Wednesday that anyone who received a cell phone message from the Federal Ministry of Finance about a potential credit of 254.33 euros should not carry out the verification required there. Several such cases were described by the Jena tax office on Wednesday.
The Federal Ministry of Finance warns of phishing SMS on its website. “Unknown people are currently pretending to be the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) via SMS,” it says. “Should you receive such SMS, please do not click on the links contained in them and do not reply.”
