Erfurt (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s tax offices are again sparing households from tax reminders, external audits, enforcements or the setting of fines over Christmas this year. From December 22nd to 26th they will keep the traditional “Christmas peace”, as the Ministry of Finance announced on Monday. During this time, neither notifications about the initiation of criminal or fine proceedings nor fine notices would be sent, and there should not be any summonses either. However, tax assessments are sent.

It is also possible to submit tax returns to the tax offices during this time. They can either be put in the authorities’ mailboxes or submitted online via the Elster program. The offices can only be reached by telephone for a limited time between December 22nd and 31st and remain completely closed on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
