Altenburg (dpa/th) – The artist Asta Gröting is this year’s winner of the Gerhard Altenbourg Prize of the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg. Of the total prize money of 50,000 euros, 10,000 euros will go to the artist as prize money, as the museum announced on Monday. According to the information, the remaining 40,000 euros will be used for an exhibition of Gröting’s works and an exhibition catalogue.

Gröting was born in Herford in 1961 and lives in Berlin. The exhibition of the Lindenau-Museum Altenburg on the occasion of the award of the Gerhard-Altenbourg-Prize will be shown in 2023 in the Prince’s Palace of the Residential Palace.

Gröting has received several awards for her work in genres such as sculpture, performance and video art. The honors included a Karl Schmidt Rottluff scholarship (1989) from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the prize for fine arts from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (1991) and the Otto Dix prize for young art from the city of Gera (1994). .
