Gera (dpa/th) – After the death of a child, the city of Gera closed the Aga lido until further notice. A check on Thursday showed that there was a risk to the life and health of bathers due to safety deficiencies, the city announced on Friday. Since the operator saw no way to improve the situation in the short term, the pool was closed.
Complaints from bathers also led to controls, it said. It was found that the bathing supervision was inadequate. In addition, according to the city, the safety precautions prescribed were not implemented adequately. There was only one lifebelt for the entire bathing water with several jetties and bathing areas spread over about 300 meters.
According to the information, the operator has the opportunity to demonstrate compliance with the regulations of the baths ordinance to the regulatory authority and to have it confirmed. Once this has happened, bathing operations can be resumed at short notice.
