Jena (dpa/th) – A brownish liquid triggered a large-scale fire brigade operation at a community school in Jena on Tuesday. The liquid was discovered in a classroom, the city administration said. According to the city administration, 15 adults and children of different ages complained of respiratory problems and headaches. The symptoms are mild and there is no danger to life.
Some of those affected were reportedly taken to a clinic at their own request. The building was gradually evacuated and the affected room sealed. It was initially unclear how many students were in the school. The alarm went off at around 1.45 p.m., the lessons were already partially over by then. The criminal police are investigating. The liquid was recorded and is now being analyzed, it was said.
