Erfurt (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s largest carnival parade in Erfurt was supposed to be resurrected after the compulsory Corona break. But after the cancellation, the state capital is now improvising. On Sunday (11.11 a.m.) there will be a carnival party organized by the city administration on the cathedral square. Under the motto “Cathedral Square Helau”, among other things, Ballermann Schlagerbarde Mickie Krause should create a good atmosphere. Carnival clubs, which otherwise deny the move, should also be present at the party. The Erfurter Carneval community had canceled the move almost three weeks before the planned date, citing the increased costs for personnel and security.
According to the state association of Thuringian carnival clubs, it is the only cancellation of a carnival parade in Thuringia this year. On Sunday, among other things, there should be a parade through the city in Ilmenau (Ilm-Kreis), and a fool’s troop has also been announced in Neustadt an der Orla.
