Weida (dpa/th) – Due to short-term construction work on a railway bridge in Weida (Greiz district), the road below was closed on Tuesday. Deutsche Bahn applied for the blocking, the company said. There is no danger of collapse. The State Police Inspectorate in Gera had previously written in a press release that there was a risk of collapse and that the former railway bridge was therefore closed.
According to its own statements, the railway is currently examining how to proceed with the bridge. A decision is still pending, it said. The building is a listed building, said a police spokesman. It is no longer used for train services. Because of the closure, there were traffic delays in Weida. A detour has been set up.
