The decline was an average of 3.5 percent, said the State Office for Statistics on Wednesday in Erfurt. According to this information, the Thuringian workforce worked a total of 1.4 billion hours in 2020. The number of hours worked decreased the most in the district of Sonneberg (minus 9.2 percent) and the least in the city of Erfurt (minus 3.1 percent).
The decline primarily affected the economic sectors of trade, transport and warehousing, hospitality, information and communication as well as financial, insurance and corporate service providers, real estate and housing (each minus 7.3 percent). According to the statisticians, the area of ??public and other service providers, education, health and domestic services was significantly less affected (minus 1.9 percent).
