Erfurt (dpa/th) – In Thuringia, fewer people died in accidents on the free state’s roads in the first eight months of the year than in the same period last year. However, the number of injuries increased, as the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday. The police registered 52 traffic deaths from January to August, compared to 60 (-13.3 percent) in the same period the year before. The number of injured rose from 4,090 to 4,522 (10.6 percent). The number of accidents also increased by 2.4 percent, from 30,709 to 31,436 accidents.
