Erfurt (dpa/th) – According to the latest available figures, labor costs in Thuringia are the second lowest in all of Germany. With an average of 29.51 euros per hour in the Free State, labor costs were only lower in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at 29.27 euros in 2020, as the State Statistical Office announced on Monday in Erfurt. The nationwide average cost 37.17 euros per hour.

The most expensive in Thuringia were the hours worked in energy supply companies (EUR 45.59) and in the finance and insurance sector (EUR 42.95). According to the statisticians, the lowest labor costs per hour were in the hospitality industry (EUR 17.99) and in other economic services (EUR 20.98).

According to the statisticians, hourly labor costs depended on the size of the company. While the costs in small companies with up to 49 employees amounted to an average of 23.35 euros, the costs in large companies with 1000 and more employees were over 36.44 euros.
