Ilfeld (dpa/th) – A fire in a residential building in Ilfeld (Northern Saxony district) caused a high level of property damage. The two residents, aged 65 and 75, could have left the building, said the Nordhausen State Police Inspectorate on Friday. The house is no longer habitable, the damage is around 50,000 euros. Witnesses alerted the police and fire department on Thursday afternoon. The emergency services were busy fighting the fire until the early hours of Friday morning. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
