Erfurt (dpa/th) – Due to a slight relaxation in energy prices, inflation in Thuringia fell below the 10 percent mark again in November. As the Thuringian State Office for Statistics announced on Monday, consumer prices rose by 9.9 percent in November compared to the same month last year – 0.8 percentage points less than in October.

The state office announced that the prices for heating oil and fuels fell by 5.3 percent compared to the previous month. Looking at the prices of November 2021, however, the statisticians found an increase in the prices for energy products of 33.5 percent.

High inflation rates reduce the purchasing power of consumers, which means they can afford less for one euro. This can weaken private consumption as an important pillar of the economy.
