Jena (dpa/th) – The Jena software provider Intershop is hit by the crisis. After an already weak first half of the year, the specialist for programs for online trading lowered its sales and earnings forecast for the year as a whole on Friday. The Management Board is now assuming that revenues will be at the previous year’s level instead of an increase in sales of around ten percent.
The Jena-based company expects earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) to fall in the low single-digit million range. So far, a positive result of at least one million euros had been forecast.
The Executive Board justified the development with the service business, which remained well below expectations. He “does not assume that the backlog from the previous quarters can be compensated for in the fourth quarter”. On the other hand, business with rental software is developing well. An increase of one fifth is expected.
At EUR 18.5 million, Intershop’s half-year sales were only just above the level of the same period of the previous year. After six months, EBIT slipped into the red at half a million euros. Intershop employs almost 300 IT specialists in Jena.
