Sömmerda (dpa/th) – Special forces from the State Criminal Police Office searched a residential building in Sömmerda on Tuesday. Police say it belongs to a 38-year-old man. He had said he saw on surveillance cameras that several strangers had gained access to the building, said the State Police Inspectorate in Erfurt.
The house was surrounded by the police and the area was cordoned off. A man was taken to the police station for questioning, officials said. In addition, the emergency services followed up on indications of weapons. They discovered a permit-free gun in the house.
Police officers had already approached the house on Sunday because a woman was said to have been threatened with a gun. When they arrived, at least one of those present is said to have fled. However, the search with a police helicopter was unsuccessful. Stones were thrown at police officers and three police cars were damaged.
