Erfurt (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) expects after the federal-state meeting that the proposals for reducing the gas price will be on the table next week. “The stronger and the faster we get the prices down, the less money is needed for the aid packages,” said Ramelow on Wednesday in Erfurt. He again spoke out in favor of further market intervention after the Uniper nationalization.

Ramelow did not agree with the sometimes harsh criticism of other prime ministers of the federal government because of postponed decisions. “I would have liked a bit more clarity. But the direction is right,” said the left-wing politician.

Lowering all energy prices must now be a priority. This applies not only to gas, but also to electricity and fuels, the prices of which have meanwhile deviated far from the price of crude oil. Ramelow spoke of “moon prices” for energy, “which unsettle people very much”.

In his estimation, the federal states are willing to participate in the implementation of the aid packages if the federal government ensures that energy prices are pushed down significantly. According to Ramelow, the 200 billion euros announced for this offer the necessary potential for intervention. It is now important that after the recommendations of the commission of experts set up by the federal government are presented, decisions are made quickly, so that a lot of things have to “go hand in hand”.

There is currently discussion of capping gas prices for at least part of consumption so that private households and companies are not overwhelmed.
