Schleusingen (dpa/th) – Two rescue workers were insulted and beaten by a 71-year-old man during a patient transport in Schleusingen (district of Hildburghausen). A paramedic had her nose broken, the police said on Monday. The man was supposed to be taken to a hospital in Hildburghausen on Sunday evening by the emergency services because of health problems from Schleusingen. During the patient transport, the man first insulted the two 30-year-old paramedics and then hit them.

In the hospital, the 71-year-old was found to have an alcohol level of two per thousand. The injured paramedic was also treated. According to the police, it is still unclear why the attack took place. A charge of assault was filed against the man.
