Erfurt (dpa/th) – According to the head of the Thuringian State Chancellery, Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff (left), interest in dealing with SED injustice is still high. The local effects of global political events in particular would continue to interest many people, said Hoff on Tuesday in Erfurt. There he presented a report by the state government on its activities between March 2019 and March 2022 to deal with SED injustice.

In particular, the closure of the inner-German border 70 years ago was of some interest to many people. “This is a topic that still affects people locally – in the villages,” said Hoff. Despite this interest, however, it is not always easy to get young people to pay attention to this topic, especially in schools, Hoff admitted. Whether this succeeds depends heavily on how you try to reach the students.
