Leipzig / Erfurt (dpa / th) – The Thuringian expects a changeable weekend. On Saturday, people in the western half can look forward to sunshine, according to a spokesman for the German Weather Service, it will be thundery in the rest of Thuringia. The temperatures remain summery with up to 29 degrees throughout the state. During the night it cools down to 14 degrees, but it stays dry.

Sunday starts with lots of sunshine and up to 32 degrees. With a view to expected temperatures well above 30 degrees at the weekend, the DWD has issued an official heat warning for Thuringia. For the cities of Gera, Greiz, Jena, Weimar and Sömmerda as well as for the districts of Sömmerda, the Weimar and Altenburger Land, the Kyffhäuser and the Saale-Holzland districts, a strong heat load is expected – as in other parts of Germany, shared the weather service on Saturday morning.

From noon onwards it will be cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the evening. This announces the cold front, which will ensure an increased risk of severe weather from Monday.
