Erfurt (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s auto industry continues to suffer from a lack of supplier parts. The turnover of one of the most important branches of industry in the Free State collapsed in the first seven months of this year by 342.7 million euros, as announced by the State Statistical Office in Erfurt on Monday. That is a decrease of 14.4 percent. If the price increases were factored out, the minus would even be 15.7 percent.
Opel only reported at the weekend at the 30th anniversary of the Eisenach plant that there was a temporary standstill this year due to missing electronic parts – with an overall good order situation at the plant with 1300 employees. In Eisenach, the Rüsselsheim car manufacturer produces the SUV Grandland.
Thuringia’s automotive industry has long been the sales heavyweight in the industry and offers tens of thousands of jobs. It is mainly characterized by supplier companies. Many of them have reported unstable supply chains this year in recent weeks. Parts were always missing in order to keep their production running continuously.
