Weimar (dpa/th) – The “Yiddish Summer Weimar” ended on Saturday with a ball in the open air. On the Theaterplatz in Weimar, a 30-strong orchestra played for the dance, as the organizers announced. This marks the end of this year’s festival five weeks after it began, in which around 100 international artists took part with concerts, spontaneous performances, courses and seminars.
The focus of the festival was the search for traces of connections between Yiddish, Greek and Turkish music and culture. The 95 events did not only focus on the festival center in Weimar. Performances in Erfurt, Eisenach, Apolda, Altenburg, Leipzig, Niederzimmern, Tiefurt, Holzdorf, Kapellendorf and Gera were also on the program.
