Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, visiting Denmark, said in Copenhagen on Monday that he was convinced that Russia would lose the war, as Denmark and the Netherlands announced the upcoming delivery of F-16 fighter jets to the ‘Ukraine.
“Today, we are convinced that Russia will lose this war,” he told the crowd gathered near Parliament.
The 19 F-16 planes promised by Denmark will be delivered gradually to kyiv: six towards the end of the year, eight next year and five the following year, according to the Danish Prime Minister.
“The main thing is what we prove with our victory, our cooperation,” continued the Ukrainian president. “Together, we prove that life has a value, that people matter”.
“Freedom is important, Europe is important”, he said again.
A day earlier, Zelensky hailed the “historic” decision by the Netherlands and Denmark to deliver a total of 61 American-made F-16 fighter jets to his country.
He traveled to these two countries on Sunday to examine the devices that kyiv has been asking for tirelessly since the beginning of the Russian invasion to fight the forces of Moscow, which are far superior at this stage.
On Monday, the Russian ambassador to Denmark denounced “an escalation of the conflict”.
“By entrenching itself behind the idea that Ukraine must determine the terms of peace itself, Denmark seeks, through deeds and words, to leave Ukraine no choice but to continue the confrontation. military with Russia,” said Ambassador Vladimir Barbin.
According to him, this decision “pushes Ukraine into the abyss and condemns its people to new victims”.
In July, Russia’s Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov warned against the delivery of F-16s, saying they will be considered by Moscow as a “nuclear” threat.
