Dozens of people have died on the night of this Friday as a result of the impact of several tornadoes in the western medium region of the United States, where the most affected was the state of Kentucky with at least 50 deceased, the governor has reported on Saturday,
Andy Beshear.
“We believe that our death number will exceed 50 residents in Kentucky, it will probably end closer to 70 to 100 lost lives,” he said in an appearance before the press.
Beshear has indicated that a tornado touched earth and toured about 200 miles (320 kilometers), where he would be the tornado “more severe in the story of Kentucky”.
The worst has happened in the city of Mayfield, about 10,000 inhabitants, where a tornado collapsed a factory in which more than a hundred people worked at that time, causing a “massive” figure of victims.
“There were about 110 people at the time when the tornado hit him,” Beshear said.
“We believe that we will lose at least dozens of those people, it is very hard, really hard, and we are praying for each and every one of those families,” she said in the appearance of him.
The leader, who declared the state of emergency and activated the National Guard and the Kentucky State Police before the great damages caused, indicated that some areas have been so hard hit that it is “hardly explicable in words”.
Beshear has indicated that multiple tornadoes impacted in a dozen counties but that the most serious of them originated initially in Arkansas and toured a distance “never seen”.

An indeterminate number of people have been trapped after part of the roof of an Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville (Illinois, United States) sank on Friday night when torn and strong storms hit the area.
The Emergency Agency of Colinsville has said that it was an “incident with victims” and has added that several people were trapped inside the warehouse.
In a publication on Facebook, the agency does not give details or information about how many people have been injured or dead.
A spokesman for Amazon has said that the company was evaluating the situation.
The vehicles of emergency services surround the place and the images of drones show the rescue teams looking at a huge area of debris in the dark.
A woman who is abroad, Sarah Bierman, said she was very concerned about her husband, who works in the warehouse.
“I talked about him around eight o’clock at night, a bit before sending him a text message, and he returned to the warehouse to leave his truck,” she told a journalist.
“I have not known anything about him since then,” she added.
“My prayers are with the people of Edwardsville tonight, and I communicated with the mayor to provide the necessary state resources,” the Illinois Governor, JB Pritzker, shared on Twitter.
