Police said that three people were killed and eleven others were injured in Saturday’s shooting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred in the northeastern United States.
“Fourteen people were hospitalized after being hit by gunfire,” Inspector D.F. Pace stated.
He said that three of the victims, two men, and one woman, had been pronounced dead at hospitals after they were treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
Inspector Pace stated that officers attending “observed many active shooters opening fire upon the crowd” in Philadelphia’s busy South Street.
He claims that the police opened fire on one shooter, but it’s not clear if he was actually hit.
Local media reported that there had been no arrests.
Inspector Pace stated that two handguns were discovered on the spot. The police will wait until Monday to review the images from the surveillance cameras in the nearby businesses, which were closed Saturday night.
He said that the investigation was proceeding smoothly with many unanswered questions.
According to the Gun violence archive, there have been over twenty shootings in the United States since the May 24 massacre at a Uvalde school that killed 21 people.
