Heather Mack was just 18 when she was taken into custody. Sheila von Wiese Mack’s body was found in a taxi near St. Regis Bali Resort. Lili, the Kerobokan Female prison chief, said that Mack will be released and deported to the United States.

Lili, who uses a single name, said Mack was granted a total 34 months of sentence reductions. These are often granted on major holidays to prisoners, and include a six-month remission from her sentence by the Indonesian government in August’s Independence Day.

Lili stated that she had seen Lili as a kind person and was entitled to the sentence decrease. She was happy to learn this and started packing up with excitement.

Mack and Tommy Schaefer, Mack’s then-boyfriend were taken into custody in August 2014. They were convicted in April 2015. Schafer was sentenced to 18 years.

Prior to Mack’s conviction, Stella Schaefer, Stella Schaefer, was born to her and Schaefer. Mack was also reported to have a difficult relationship with her mother. Officials confirmed that they had been called numerous times to their Oak Park, Illinois home by police.

Robert Bibbs was a cousin to Schaefer and pleaded guilty in 2016 to conspiring to kill Mack in return for $50,000. He was sentenced to the next year to nine-years in prison.

Mack, now 6, can be reunited under Indonesian law with her daughter upon her release.

Yulius Benyamin Seran, Mack’s Indonesian lawyer, stated earlier that Mack had not seen her little girl in over 20 months due to the suspension of prison visits during the coronavirus epidemic. She asked the Indonesian authorities to allow Mack to stay with her foster family, to avoid media attention.

A deported foreigner can be refused entry to Indonesia under Indonesian law for up to six months.
