At least two immigrants died and another ten needed medical attention this Friday after traveling hidden in a freight train car in the US state of Texas, local media reported.
The authorities of Uvalde (Texas) responded to the emergency call of one of the people who was traveling on the train, as reported by the KENS chain.
Police closed a stretch of Highway 90 about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of the city of Uvalde, in the Knippa area, where the train stopped.
It is not clear if the wagon or container in which the migrants were traveling was sealed on the outside.
Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodríguez told KENS that the discovery was made around 1:30 p.m. local time (18:30 GMT).
Several helicopters and ambulances responded to the emergency. At least four of the injured were airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio.
In June of last year, the San Antonio authorities found dozens of migrants dead who were traveling overcrowded in a cargo truck. The total death toll was 53, while 13 people were injured.
