After winning the best actress in a supporting award for her role in “Fences,” Viola Davis gave one of the most emotional, eloquent speeches of the night.
There’s only one place, Davis said, where we can all come together, the graveyard.
“Exhume those bodies. Exhume those stories. Stories of the people who dreamed – and never saw those dreams to fruition.”
That line, especially the phrase “exhume those bodies,” resounded with many.
“Viola Davis just got nominated for an Emmy after that speech for the Oscars,” Kimmel said after the commercial break. Many agreed.
Other viewers were just in awe of her delivery.
