The water main break that left a Downtown Jersey City street flooded yesterday has been repaired, according to Suez North America.
The water main break was reported yesterday when a contractor struck a fire hydrant’s water line in front of 66 York St., several blocks from the Hudson River, a spokeswoman for the water company said.
However, Suez could not immediately repair the damaged main because of a nearby school and women’s shelter, and had to wait until Thursday evening to do the work.
The water company tweeted this morning that the repairs have been since been completed.
Maintenance work will occur tonight in the area of York Street in #JerseyCity to repair a water main damaged earlier today.
