The sparrows are just whistling from the rooftops that pop icon Rihanna is said to have quietly given birth to her first child, and another superstar is already looking forward to having offspring: Ed Sheeran. For him, however, it is already the second child.
Musician Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn have become parents again. The singer surprisingly announced the birth of his second daughter via Instagram. “I wanted to let you all know that we’ve had another beautiful girl,” the 31-year-old wrote alongside a photo showing a pair of baby socks.
It’s already a tradition at Sheeran: the singer had already announced the birth of his first daughter Lyra Antarctica in August 2020 with a similar picture. “We are both so in love with her and so happy to be a family of four,” the new post reads.
The news comes as a surprise, because only the closest family members knew about the pregnancy. A rep for the musician has since confirmed to Britain’s The Sun: “They are so excited that Lyra is having a little sister and the four are enjoying some precious family time before Ed goes back on tour.” She hopes that the privacy of the two will be respected during this special time. Sheeran has not yet revealed the name of the second daughter.
Sheeran said last year that family planning wasn’t over yet. He would be “super grateful” if more children were added, the singer explained – and apparently even then he was thinking of more daughters: “Girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say that,” said the 31 -year-old in the podcast “Open House Party”. He was “so happy” to have a child, “and I think I would love more.”
Ed Sheeran and his longtime girlfriend and childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn, have been married since 2019. The couple mostly keeps their marriage out of the public eye.
Almost at the same time as the baby news from Sheeran, it became known that Rihanna is said to have given birth to her first child. Father is the rapper A$AP Rocky. It is the first offspring for the singer from Barbados.
